Butterfly Blue: Dramatic Colorful Eye (MAC Blue Brown and Shimmermoss)

If you love the more dramatic side of nature, there are few things as bright and multi-faceted as insect wings. This look is a little reminiscent of blue butterfly wings, but instead of pairing it with black, I wanted to pair it with a duo-chromatic brown with a sheen that reflected the same tone of teal-blue.

Colors used:

A brown cream base: MAC Constructivist Paint Pot (or any brown cream shadow)

A duochrome blue-brown: MAC Blue Brown Pigment (Club shadow would work as well)

A rich metallic blue-green: MAC Shimmermoss, MAC Parrot, Milani Just Perfect, L’oreal HiP duo in Showy work equally well

Step 1: First apply eye shadow primer all over the lids, then a brown base on the outer half of the eyes. Run it along the lower lash line as well.

Step 2: Gently pack the blue brown pigment over the brown base you applied earlier, and smoke the edges outwards so you get soft wings.

Step 3: Pack the rich blue-green from the inner corners outwards, blending slightly into the blue. Don’t take it out too far as you don’t want to muddy up the colors. They should fuse into each other but still look like 2 distinct shades.

Step 4: Finish with a dab of pale blue shimmer along the inner corners (optional; this heightens the contrast between the 2 main shades, by giving the blue-green a little more of a brightness), then curl lashes and apply mascara to complete the look. Try Coastal Scents Interfine Blue mica.)

Pink cuts Brown

Pink Concealer- Used to counteract green tones. People with darker skintones tend to have under eye circles that are more of a dark greenish tint. Pink concealer is used to correct that.

This is especially useful for dark skinned women, who have lots of darkness on or around the eyelids. Instead of trying to cover the darkness with a concealer or base, try a pastel pink or salmon colored based concealer. A peachy pink is also great for this. It will instantly gently neutralise the darkness and even out the skintone.

ZOMBIE MAKEUP: RIPPED MOUTH TUTORIAL

This I did for a zombie prom happening at a local bar but you can really do it for anything. Just make sure you eat, drink and brush your teeth before doing this makeup because you won’t be able to do much with your mouth afterwords…

1. I wasn’t sure what i wanted to do for the hair so I decided on something like a crazy rainbow afro. SO the first thing I did (after taking a shower so my hair is wet) is put my hair in sort of twisty cornrows.

2. Ok, Ready for Makeup. First I blacked out my mouth and nose. (black grease paint works wonderfully)

3. Ok here’s where it gets FUN! Bring out the liquid latex, toilet paper, fake teeth (I made mine of fake nails cut, filed and painted with acrylic paint) and some spirit gum.

When your face is blacked out you want to build around your lips and the top of the nose with your TP and Liquid latex (one layer) then when its dry glue on your fake teeth with your spirit gum (gum on both the tooth and the surface, wait for it to get tacky to the touch) and hold the teeth tight to the latex so it sticks. Then put a layer of latex over that just to hold everything in place.

4.NOW! Paint around your teeth! (with grease paint and paint brushes) Make it look like you got some gross bloody gums and tendons in there! And don’t be afraid to play with colors like purple and black! They are going to make the teeth really pop!

5. Add one more layer of toilet paper and liquid latex to really get that feel that the skin is peeling off of your face and underneath is you teeth! Now (after its dry), Paint over that white latex. No one wants that white showing… It’s your skin REMEMBER? I used cheap craft sponges to make the color even.

6. Hey! Here’s some more fun stuff! Now you can paint the rest of your face! I chose just a pale complexion sort of close to my own. (just dabs of white with a sponge) black around the eyes of course! And then I used liquid eye liner to do the cracks around my eyes and mouth.

7.Now add your blood! I splattered some of it with a tooth brush but a lot of it is just strategically placed about my face.

8. TAKE YOUR HAIR OUT. I used a lot of hair spray and teased it with a comb/brush as well to get it pretty darn ridiculous.

9. Now it’s time to put on your costume and splash your blood everywhere! GET BLOODY WITH IT! DON’T BE AFRAID!

10. Don’t forget your contacts! (these are a sort of black one that looks like blood is seeping onto the whites of your eyes) This photo was taken after zombie prom.

Hey! You are all done! And now look! You have a cute little latex mask! And if you’re careful taking it off, you might be able to use it again!

Quick look day!

I was just messing around and came up with this! Hope you like it and give it a try, it was very easy!

1. Maroon Base (Maybelline Color Tattoo in Pomegranate Punk) all over the lid and rounded underneath brow bone. Then take a q-tip and make the outer corner a sharp straight wing.
2. Reddy-brown shimmer colour (120 palette) over inner half of the lid
3. Matte Black over outer corner, blend onto crease (120 palette matte black)
4. Blue base underneath the eye (Maybelline Color Tattoo in Tenacious Teal) bring up parallel to the maroon base and wing it out.
5. Sparkly blue shadow to set the blue underneath the eye (120 palette sparkle blue)
6. Black liquid liner on upper lash line
7. False lashes (the wilder the better!)
8. Mascara (Almay 1 touch dial up on setting 3)
